The title of this piece is drawn from its resemblance to a compass with its four major radials. This outstanding table is rendered in claro walnut with wenge accents. The upper photo provides an indication of the warm, inviting characteristics of the piece.

The top panel is wenge, tiger maple and bubinga veneers arranged such that they give a three-dimensional effect.

Matching of the grain of the wood is excellent throughout and seems especially striking on the gently tapered octagonal column.
Careful attention to the grain continues in the book-matched feet that include a wenge inlay for emphasis.
Medallions are placed at the four major points around the apron. Notice how the grain matching continues on the claro walnut apron. Wenge is used to frame the bottom of the apron and is shaped into a bead.
