Table Saw Outfeed and Support Benches

July 2007

This is the view as you walk in the single door on the right of the shop addition. Since I use a fair amount of sheet goods, I wanted to have plenty of support all around. The primary material is 3/4" MDF for tops, aprons and legs. The tops are supported by a grid of MDF.

The white cabinet on the side of the router table is from my old Jet extension table. I decided to keep it since it's set up for drawers for my router bits, trims routers and other small components.

The box under the router lift measures about 16.5" wide by 16" long by 18" deep and is constructed from 5/8" CD plywood left over from roof construction. It has a 4" dust collection port at the lower rear. The graphic on the left is a side view section of the router dust collection box. Air supply is provided by reducing the height of the front of the box. A baffle is spaced 5/8" back from the front and overlaps the front by 1/2" to keep chips from flying out.

Router bit and other equipment storage is shown in the small photo.

Here's another view of the router table with the Jet (Jess-Em) lift system and Incra LS positioner. I also have the tall fence adaptor, stop blocks, sled and other parts for the Incra system. I installed a t-track in front of the mounting plate for hold-downs and miter use.

I installed aluminum miter t-track for the extensions of the table saw miter track. The t-track will enable the use of bench hold-downs, etc., as well as allow sleds to travel onto the outfeed table. I built a routing guide for the 1.25" slot with 2x4 stock and 1/4" straps. Alignment of the routing guide to the table saw slots was accomplished with a laser guide.

This final shot is the top view of the table saw and router table assembly. When this photo was taken, I had applied two coats of sealer and two coats of paste wax to the top. I'll apply sealer to the aprons and legs another day. Overall, the assembly is 118" wide and 75" long with the saw blade about 58" from the left edge.
