Miter Saw Bench Construction February 2007 |
The miter saw bench will occupy the length of the common wall on the new
side of the building. MDF was used for stability. This photo shows the frame
for the top being leveled and attached to the wall. |
Legs have been added to the left portion of the miter saw bench. Side panels
were placed on the right portion of the bench to prepare for adding drawers
later. The bench tops are also in place now. The gap between the two
sections will hold the miter saw panel and support. |
Here, the miter saw support and panel are in place for final tweaking. Prior
to final attachment of the miter saw, I completed the front, back and sides
of the drop chute for dust collection. |
Infeed and outfeed table/fence assemblies were constructed from 1/2" BC
plywood. |
This photo shows the completed mitersaw dust collection containment box as
well as the pegboard mounted to the wall. |
Here's a close-up of the miter saw and its dust containment system. The
graphic below is a side view of the dust collection system. |
The back of the dust collection system is two pieces of plywood enbedded in the wall space between studs. The top section is slanted to encourage dust and chips thrown backward from the saw to bounce toward the floor. The lower section of the back as well as the front panel are slanted to feed a 4" port. |
